Bright Green Nature Appoints Nature Restoration Officer

Scottish Borders, Scotland – 9th August 2024. Bright Green Nature is delighted to announce the appointment of Jenny Gries as the charity’s new Nature Restoration Officer. Jenny will commence her role on 12th August, supporting local communities, schools, and families.

Jenny’s role, generously funded by the National Lottery Awards for All scheme, is a pivotal addition to Bright Green Nature’s mission of fostering environmental stewardship, providing nature-based learning and skills development and supporting  biodiversity recovery. With her background in nature based education, ecological restoration and community engagement, Jenny is well-positioned to inspire and support people in transforming their surroundings into thriving, nature-rich habitats.

A Passion for Nature and Community

Jenny Gries brings a wealth of experience in nature education and conservation and a deep passion for community engagement. Her previous work has demonstrated her ability to effectively collaborate with diverse groups, empowering them to take active roles in environmental preservation. In her new position, Jenny will work closely with local schools, communities and families to develop and implement practical strategies for restoring natural ecosystems and processes, designed for each space.  The role will also dovetail into providing support for Bright Green Nature’s ‘Wild Your Space’ Microfund applicants.  The WYS Microfund https://brightgreennature.org/funding/ is an innovative small grant programme aimed at providing funding to families, schools and communities in the Scottish Borders to facilitate development of their spaces for Nature.

Empowering Communities

“Jenny’s appointment marks a significant step forward in our efforts to bring Nature back to the Scottish Borders,” said Dr Karen Blackport, Chief Executive Officer, Bright Green Nature. “With the generous support of the National Lottery Awards for All scheme, we are excited to see the positive impact Jenny will have in helping people across our region to reconnect with Nature and take actionable steps to enhance their local environments.”
