Welcome to the Young Rewilders Forum
Are you aged 16 – 25?
Are you passionate about restoring and protecting our environment?
Are you ready to speak up for yourself and for other young people?
If you answer “Yes” to all of the above, then this Forum is the place to be!
Launched by Bright Green Nature at the end of 2024, this exciting new initiative aims to give young people in the Borders a platform to work alongside other likeminded individuals, learn new skills for the real world and to make a real difference.
The dedicated team at Bright Green Nature will provide time, resources and a valuable network of contacts, enabling Young People to come together and work effectively as a team – on the topics that YOU want to work on. We will provide support and guidance (if required) and we will always have your backs. BUT the rest will be down to you. This is not just a group for young people to attend – this is a place where young people can bring their ideas to life, work alongside experts in the field and drive real change, with minimal interference from others.
What we will do:
The areas that the group will become involved in will be decided by the group themselves, but are likely to include …..
· Supporting/Setting up nature restoration projects
· Media content creation
· Working with key influencers
· Organising community campaigns, environmental events and fundraising
· Advocating for better political policies
How much time will this involve?
Involvement with the group will be voluntary but assistance with travel etc., when required, will be provided. Time commitments will be decided by the group themselves, but we expect you will be taking part in on-line meetings, participating in a WhatsApp group, attending live events and doing some study work in-between.
Our hopes for the Young Rewilders Forum:
· Spring/summer 2025: “Steering Group” of 10 -15 young people working together, sharing ideas and creating a realistic and effective action plan of what happens next.
· Autumn 2025 onwards; plans develop into actions, with measurable benefits to the natural environment and to our local communities.
· Long-term – that the Forum is noticed on a national level and is able to assist other regions to set up similar initiatives. Also, to see our hard working volunteers progress into further education and/or careers where their enthusiasm and dedication will continue to inspire others, whilst simultaneously generating hope for future generations.
So what’s in it for me???
So – what’s in it for the individual young people who take part and join our Steering Group?
· A truly unique chance to turn ideas into action
· The chance to network and communicate with key people in the sector
· The possibility of additional academic accreditations (tbc)
· Having something that will make their CV stand out from others
· Enhanced career opportunities in this rapidly expanding sector
We welcome enquiries from individuals keen to become involved (or just seeking additional information). We also welcome interest from Youth Group Leaders who would like to share news of our work with those in their organisation – we have a 30 minute presentation available and are happy to bring this to your group.
