Bright Green Nature Appoints Mark Holmes as Chief Executive Officer, June 2026

Bright Green Nature is delighted to announce the appointment of Mark Holmes as its new Chief Executive Officer. Mark will commence employment from 1st July 2026.
Mark joins Bright Green Nature from The Glacier Trust, bringing experience in environmental leadership, community engagement, climate resilience, and partnership working. Mark has worked across nature recovery, sustainable land management, and community-led environmental action, building collaborations across the public, private, and charitable sectors.
Mark succeeds Dr Karen Blackport as Chief Executive Officer. Dr Blackport, who founded Bright Green Nature and who will continue to support the organisation as Chair of the Board of Trustees.
Under Mark’s leadership, Bright Green Nature will continue to expand its work delivering innovative approaches to community-based nature restoration that address the interconnected challenges of biodiversity loss, climate change, and sustainable rural development.
