Bright Green Nature’s Junior Rangers meet every Monday in Selkirk, where young people aged between 8 and 15 come together to explore, learn and take action for nature. Guided by our Biodiversity Officer, Lisa McLeish, the group develops practical skills in Nature Restoration, from caring for habitats to wildlife identification, whilst building a strong connection to their local environment.
Over the last 18 months they have worked with many local organisations including Tweed Forum, Butterfly Conservation, the Tweed Foundation and the Missing Lynx Project as well as playing an active role in looking after Selkirk’s green spaces such as The Haining, Deer Park, and Selkirk Hill. Through this they have developed confidence, green skills, and a sense of stewardship for the local landscape.
By nurturing curiosity and empowering the next generation, the Junior Rangers are helping to create a greener, more nature-rich future for their community.
