The clue is in the name – Bright Green NATURE. Yes we are here for nature, there can be no doubt about that. We are here to improve the natural environment throughout the Borders as best we can. By restoring natural habitats, creating wildlife corridors and building stronger ecosystems we can improve climate resilience and even have a positive effect on the quality of our air, our water and our soil.
All of this offers multiple benefits to PEOPLE. We are part of nature, and when nature thrives people thrive.
Bright Green Nature are proud to work with local people and local communities, where we strive to improve connectivity to nature, make nature more accessible and to empower people to learn nature-based skills and knowledge. We want people to feel better connected to their own natural environment and to their cultural heritage.
Wild Your Space for Communities stives to provide support for individuals and community groups in all parts of the Scottish Borders. If you are keen to make a different to nature, or start your own restoration project, then we are here to support you. And if funding is a problem, our charity microgrant is here to help! Here are a few of the ways that we can assist:
- On-site visits for community groups to advise on the most suitable projects for your outdoor area. This includes discussing all the options, advising on native plants (and suppliers), assisting with budgeting and microgrant applications.
- On-going support, planting advice, maintenance advice and how best to get others involved.
- Bespoke Outdoor Learning Sessions for community groups – where we can take groups of people (of all ages) and help them to connect with nature while they enjoy discovering interesting features in their local outdoor environment.
- Our Digital Toolkit – This ongoing project was originally put in place to assist Borders School Teachers, but we have decided to make it available to all. It offers useful advice on all of the most popular, and worthwhile, nature restoration projects.
- By showing our Rewilding Presentation – Nature Restoration in the Borders – and Beyond. A thought provoking PowerPoint presentation suitable for groups of all ages (teenagers and older).
